Planning on buying a new laptop. Need help deciding.

I got planes to buy a new laptop before the end of the year (maybe next month).
My biggest concern is getting a laptop that I can still make my MMD stuff on with the same (or better) quality. But I'm no tech-expert, so I don't exactly know what to look for in a laptop. And of course I don't want to tell store employees that I make hentai videos.

My current laptop specifications...
HP-Pavillion Laptop
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200u CPU @2.50GHz 2.71GHZ
Installed Ram: 12.0GB (11.9GB usable)
System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
(Costed around $600 dollars in 2017)

My budget is around $900 (can go a few dollars above though) and I'm not loyal to any particular brand.

I do have my eye on these but I would like opinions and any other suggestions.

i just got done building my own PC, in the $5000 plus range ($3000 of it is literally just the 3080 ti I just bought lol), so it out of your budget but i will throw my 2c in.

For 3D, video making etc. I'd go with an AMD processor Ryzen 9 series, faster encoding, smoother editing. this is from experiencing it myself really as i am no tech expert either, just a lot of youtube videos of other building pcs and taking on their recommendation for editing and developing.

intel or nvidia are kings when it comes to the graphics cards but AMD recently has blown intel processors out of the water, especially with the Threadripper CPUs, which is out of my budget but yeah, i'd try see if you can grab an AMD cpu laptop.

and if you want to talk to an employee or a computer tech guy, just say to them.

"i need a laptop that will meet my needs for media creation, video editing and 3D rendering stuff like that" (leaving out the specific details like, "i make hentai")

they should have something there.

but this is my anecdotal opinion my video editing and 3D recording has improved significantly since going with an AMD Ryzen 9 5950x 16 core processor and increasing my ram from 16gb to 64gb.

cpu power and ram helps a lot. if you not too heavy on graphics this would at least speed up and smooth your editing and what not.

laptops are pre built and will never be as great as a full desktop I'm afraid.

my final opinion is stay away from store built best buy type laptops, they're really bad and I have been ripped off many a times buying one due to being impatient and needing an pc "right now"

try actual computer store instead, not sure what country you're in but where ever your local pc part stores or anything that deals with computer exclusively, they have better tech experts than a best buy min wage employee.

hope I helped a little, in the end take my opinions with grain of salt, I am not an expert, and someone more tech savvy than myself might say ignore me.

I'm not an expert either, but I would recommend a laptop with a Ryzen processor, as I understand it, AMD Apu's are better in terms of graphics and Intel's integrated graphics are shit (for lack of a better adjective).
I make my MMD videos on an AMD A9 500usd laptop from 4 years ago.
The bad thing about my laptop is that it only has 500mb of ram assigned for the graphics, which does not allow me to render in 4k in an "easy" way, very difficult to do so, I don't even try.
So in terms of laptops make sure to see how much RAM is dedicated to graphics.
the ideal is to buy a desktop pc but you can not always.

wait for the black friday offers while you investigate the memory of the graphics well

A desktop PC is not an option I want, mostly due to space reasons with my actual desk. I also like sitting on my couch with my laptop as well.
I don't render my videos in 4k quality anyways, so I'm not concerned with getting much super-quality anyways.
Regarding the RAM, I did encounter a Lenovo with and "AMD Ryzen 7 - 16GB Memory" RAM. Better RAM then what I currently have.

I'm not in immediate need of a new laptop. The one I'm using still works and produces satisfactory quality videos for me. But it has been getting crappier over the last month and rendering MMD videos has gotten more difficult. As I'm rendering system can run disk up to 100% and slow everything down.
Worst comes to worse I could always dedicate this laptop for MMD videos if I get a new one and can't make videos with it.

Try this senpai (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

Its should give significant upgrade to your current laptop, might want to upgrade its ram to 16 gb for best perfomance

I agree with poyopoyo , that's a good deal . Always use 2 sticks of memory for dual channel memory support . Stay away from BestBuy laptops/PCs , they load unnecessary programs on them . Sometimes even privacy spyware ! I made the mistake a few years ago of grabbing a Toshiba Satellite laptop from them . Had to remove all the added bloat (fortunately no spyware) . But adding a second stick of memory wouldn't give dual channel mode . Tried multiple combinations . Just gave up and gave it to the wife , lol !

@EcchiFuta
If you're going to get rid of your computer, where do you plan to dump it?

I'll be keeping it around as back-up when I get a new one. Whenever I do get rid of it I'll of course wipe everything off it and find a proper way to dispose of it.

@EcchiFuta

When you drop it, tell me where to pick it up. That is better than mine, ha, ha, ha!!!
